ChalleNGe Academy refuses to give up on young people

The scene this week at the Capital Guardian Youth ChalleNGe Academy must be supported by pictures to avoid accusations of make believe. DCPS students seated quietly, dressed perfectly, listening to their principal and teachers. It was enough to make an old Dean of Students cry.

As the students were called to the assembly they were in perfect order as they took their seats in silence. As each speaker took to the podium there was silence in the assembly.

Not one television station camera covered the peace and order, there was only one online print newspaper journalist to record the absence of chaos and disorder. As government leaders, presidential appointees, cabinet members, and distinguished guests gathered in the brand new media center the young people represented living proof that DCPS students do know how to act with the right instruction and incentive.
